Starts Tonight! Ace & Jig Drop 4 Preorders for Fall 2017

Extra! Extra! Drop 4 Ace & Jig pre-orders are happening tonight! If you're not yet familiar with the fourth drop textiles, now is the perfect time to study my (just updated) textile guide for the drop.

Hold on... Drop 3 preorders happened just 2 weeks ago, breaking this season's pattern of mid-month pre-orders. It is the last drop of the season, and it's a smaller one, with only 5 textiles, but this acceleration of schedule took me by surprise...

If the usual pattern holds, most retailers will be posting their wares at midnight EST, though Accompany usually drops earlier than that. Still, I'll be updating this space as I find out more and receive confirmation from retailers, so watch this post!

Preorders for this drop are expected to ship mid-October.

Yes, folks, it's that time again! Preorders for Ace & Jig will be happening tonight. If you're not yet familiar with the third drop textiles, now is the perfect time to study my textile guide for the drop.

Edit: I've been informed that some Jolie and Biscotti pieces (like the Janis Dress) are delayed and have been pushed to this drop (shipping in October). Keep an eye out for those as well!

New Ace & Jig Shopbop Exclusives

Shopbop keeps it coming with a few new Ace & Jig exclusives that just dropped this morning, in shorter lengths as usual.

My personal pick is the Janis Mini in Parfait (above), which I find just a bit more manageably sweet in the shorter length, and ideal for petite ladies as well. It also helps that it comes at a slightly lower price point of $298 vs. the original's $320.

It is accompanied by Ruby Minis in Promenade and Macaron, which I'm less into, as I personally love the midi length of the original Ruby Dress. It, too, is at a slightly lower price point, at $269 vs. the original's $289.

Still, Shopbop knows its customers, and I'm sure these minis will be someone's platonic ideal of Ace & Jig. Shop all the Ace & Jig at Shopbop here.

Drop 2 of Ace & Jig Fall 2017 has just arrived at Matches, with the usual lovely photos to boot! My personal faves of the bunch are the Janis Dress in Parfait, Bo Skirt in Promenade, and the Mallorca Top in Jolie (above), which is perfectly styled with dark wash sailor jeans and possibly the happiest little tasseled basket bag I've yet seen.

Maybe it's because I'm picky or because I'm petite, but most Ace & Jig tops are too long, too big, or have too high of a neckline. So I'm pleased to say that the Ace & Jig Inez Top this season is none of the above — It's a total winner!

Today's Ace & Jig XOs were some of the best yet: the new exclusive Camille Dresses in Black Magic, Tangier, and Parfait appear to be big winners based on how quickly they flew out the door today, with Black Magic being especially quick to sell out. At $280 retail, they're quite reasonably priced, as far as I'm concerned, and the shape looks like a really good one, too! In case you missed them, you can always find the Barney's Exclusive Camille Dress in Honor, which is still available for preorder now!

Review: Ace & Jig Mallorca Tops in Cosmos & Antoinette

Following my review of the Ace & Jig Lyon Dress, it seemed natural to review the corresponding top: the Mallorca Top, which I liked significantly more! It's this season's version of the Heather and Juliet tops, with puffed sleeves and a loose and flowy fit. Read on for more details and try-on photo in Antoinette.

Ace & Jig Lyon Dress in Antoinette, XS at A. Cheng

The Lyon Dress (shown above in Antoinette, size XS) is a difficult creature. In the lookbook photos, it almost looks like the new iteration of the Heather Dress from Spring 2016 (which I love in Kasuri/Kente) or the Juliet Dress from Fall 2016 (which I didn't like). However, it's a significant departure from those styles in quite a few ways. Read on for more details and try-on photos in Henna and Cosmos.

Review: Ace & Jig Marie Dress in Cabaret

One of the standout Ace & Jig pieces this season is the Marie Dress in Cabaret (shown above in XS), and it's pretty clear why. I called this one early on as being the Oxblood Gallery Dress of this season, but now that I've tried it on, I'm not so sure...

I'm really excited about the Capella Cardis, since they very much resemble a Frida Jacket from Spring 2017 with sleeves, which Julie had schemed from the beginning. Mindreaders? Alterations copycats? Continuing their stream of amazing fanservice XOs, Ace & Jig released the first XOs of Fall 2017: Bandanas in many of the season's textiles and the amazing Ra Ra Midi in Cabaret/Antoinette, which of course sold out immediately... Alas, I over-refreshed the webstore 3 minutes before it was posted, and Shopify blocked me from loading the site at all, so I wasn't able to grab any of them... A cautionary tale for us all.
